The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Let’s just take a minute and think about this wonderful piece of literature right here. Most people have read it (if you haven’t then shame on you) and everyone has heard of it. It is one of those classics that will be around for more years than we could count, and it will be taught academically for just as long.
I remember reading this book in high school for the first time and not being all that impressed. I then picked it up years later as an adult and I read it all in one go. I’m sure you have all come across books like that where you sit down and you don’t move until you’ve reached the end. That kind of book is so few and far between that it deserves to be relished. This is one of those books.
It is filled with love and passion, suspense and mystery, sex and alcohol, etc. It genuinely has everything. There is a reason why they called The Great Gatsby “the unmakeable movie.” It’s because the book is so great that the movie could never truly portray the novel. Don’t get me wrong I’ve enjoyed all of the attempts to make the films but I always come back to the novel.
Some of you may think that I am praising The Great Gatsby too much, but it is one of my favourite books and well… this is Throwback Thursday people. Time to shine the spotlight on one of the best! So if you haven’t read it then you are seriously deprived. Get to reading!
